I’ll be honest, I am not a huge fan of summer time. I can’t stand the heat, but it’s nice to have a fun new treat to help cool down and amuse the kids with. Also, if you’re like me then you really don’t need a good excuse to eat ice cream. You can enjoy it any time of year 🙂
The WONKA™ Brand, owned by Nestle Dreyer’s Ice Cream Company, recently announced it’s latest innovation: WONKA™ Peel-a-Pop™ frozen treats.
They contacted me and asked if I would like to throw a little party to celebrate the announcement with my kids. I love throwing parties for my kids. It’s just fun for me, so I agreed. I was sent some really fun party favors and decorations, some vouchers for the Peel-a-Pops, an American Express gift card, and a GOLDEN TICKET 🙂
When I first saw these frozen treats I thought that the peel was made out of Laffy Taffy, which would have been awesome if that were the case. It is fun to peel the treat open and the vanilla inside is delicious. I just wish the peel had been Laffy Taffy.
Each Peel-A-Pop is only 70 calories so you don’t have to feel guilty when eating it, but let’s be honest, I never feel guilty eating anything if I like it, and my scrawny kids certainly don’t have to worry about the calorie count. Well… the only child who DOES need to watch his calorie intake can’t have dairy yet 😉
My favorite of the two flavors is the Banana. If the peel had been made out of Laffy Taffy I would have enjoyed both flavors equally. The center ice cream is the same in both. My kids and I did not love the texture of the outside peel but they did keep going back to the freezer to get a Peel-A-Pop because they thought it was fun to peel and the inside is really yummy! If you think that you and/or your kids would enjoy this frozen treat then grab a box and try them out. You can find them at your local Wal-Mart, Target, Safeway, or Kroger 🙂
